Fun weekend...
This weekend was fun, if not a bit busy. We spent Saturday afternoon at Chuckee Cheese (sp?) for one of Dominic's friends 3rd birthday (Happy B-Day Jaxson). The kids really enjoyed running around and playing with each other. Dominic was so excited about going to the party all day he couldn't sit still.
Saturday evening I went to DarkRail Hell House with our youth group. It is a Christian production "reality" check, of real life situations and how the small decisions you make everyday that don't bring you closer God can eventually bring you to a place in life you don't want to be. It also included a realistic production of the Heaven or Hell judgement scenario. At times it was a bit much but they tried to be realistic without crossing the line. I believe sometimes our Christian youth just needs a "gut check" and that is what it was. It really seemed to shake some of the kids up a bit when they looked at some of the depictions or acting that fit scenarios they have or may have to live out. (Drugs, Alchohol, Abortion, Pornography etc.). The "tour" as they called it, was more a day in the life of a Demon, manipulating situations and thoughts, tempting the strong, preying on the week. Showing how small decisions that seem to be insignificant can add up to a very bad situation. Overall I thought it was well done, I think it will have positive results in the youth....
Sunday, Raema and I taught the Children's Ministry class. We are still doing our "Adventure Bay" theme, the kids really seem to enjoy it. Raema does a great job teaching and leading the kids into the word, as well as helping to answer the curious questions that the pre-teen mind produces. She is a great teacher and the kids are always learning and enjoying the class. I am still currently playing the role of "Coconut" The Pirate as a part of our curriculum, the character is not the brightest crayon in the box, but he works great to help the kids learn the memory verses as they have to try to teach it to me. (Maybe we will get some pictures of me as "Coconut" on the web page sometimes soon).
After church we had a really good afternoon at my parents. Greg Lentz and his fiance Sarah Metcalf joined us at my parents for lunch and we really enjoyed their company. It was great to see and talk to both of them and we are looking forward to spending more time with them both as Sarah transitions from N.Y. to Texas...
Another highlight, the Stars won against the Anaheim Ducks last night in overtime shootout... GO STARS!... They remain undefeated 5-0-0 along with Minnesotta and Buffalo in the NHL (The only three remaining undefeated teams) and they are playing smart, strong hockey and I am enjoying every minute of it. (For those of you who don't know or haven't figured it out, I am an avid Dallas Stars fan). Mike Modano (Stars Captain and one of the best forward in the league) tallied up his 700th assist last night (WOW), a feat only 43 other professional hockey players have achieved, putting him among elite company, (Gretzky, Hull, etc.). Hopefully we will get a chance to get to some of the games this year....
I realized that this post is getting very long so I will close it up with a request. Please keep Raema in your prayers as we continue into the 3rd month of pregnancy (YAY!). Also if you could pray for Me as well, I tore my rotator cuff in my MMA class and it just does not want to heal, so pray that it does so I can avoid surgery and potentially a 6 month down time from training. Well that's all everyone, have a great day!
